Gas springs with an anti-tear system are used and highly recommended whenever there is a need to force the fully open position to be restored without damaging fittings and/or piston.

To go from a fully closed to a fully open position, the gas spring requires a few seconds; in some applications it may be necessary to bring the object housing the spring to its original position by “forcing” its natural repositioning.

To avoid such forcing, that may damage fittings and piston, the gas spring is inserted into another cylinder that acts as lodgment for the actual spring, allowing a natural opening and closing movement without any acceleration.
